Sean McGrath

Sean McGrath enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Iona College baseball program under head coach Pat Carey. McGrath is responsible for the Iona pitching staff including practice plan, instruction and game management of the pitchers. He will also assist in recruiting.

McGrath comes to New Rochelle after spending part of the 2012 season in the professional ranks. After graduation, he signed with the McAllen Thunder in the United Division of the North American League where he pitched in relief for the final month of the independent baseball season.

McGrath played four years of varsity baseball at Lafayette College. Over his collegiate career, McGrath made 70 appearances totaling 111.1 innings. He finished his career with five wins, five saves, 108 strikeouts, and a .296 batting average against. During his senior campaign, McGrath pitched 32.1 innings and set a couple of career bests; including appearances (26), saves (3), strikeouts (43), and batting average against (.230).

He graduated from Lafayette College in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in government & law and is a native and resident of Lyndhurst, NJ.
