Annapolis, MD - The Iona College baseball team dropped its fifth straight to start the season in an 8-0 decision to Central Connecticut State at the Navy Baseball Round-Robin Tournament this afternoon. The Blue Devils' five runs in the top of the fifth inning proved to be the difference.

Kevin Mollema recorded the Gaels (0-5) four hits in the contest.
Senior RHP
Shane Sveda (0-2) took the loss. He allowed nine hits and four earned runs while recording five strikeouts and no walks through eight innings.
Senior RF Jak Kidd was 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI for the Blue Devils. Senior LHP Matt Gianini (1-1) earned the win.
Iona continues action in Annapolis tomorrow when they take on Rhode Island in the tournaments final day at 11:00 am. The Gaels rained out contest vs. Navy from Friday afternoon will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Monday afternoon beginning at Noon. The opener is scheduled for seven innings while the night cap will be a nine inning game.
