WEST POINT, NY - The Iona College baseball team fell 20-5 to Army in non-conference action at Doubleday Field.  Junior 3B Nick Rossetti and freshman CF/C Matthew Simone posted two hits a piece in the loss.

The Gaels got on the scoreboard with a run in the top of the third inning.   A two-out RBI single by sophomore 1B Chris Griffin scored Rossetti from second base.

In the seventh, Iona scored four times.  Rossetti's RBI single began the scoring.  Freshman SS Eric Capowski drove in two runs on an error by the Black Knight third baseman.   He was followed by another run scoring hit by junior LF Andrew Passerelle.

The Gaels posted five runs on 10 hits in the game.   Sophomore RHP Tom Sweeney and freshman RHP Jordan Gilruth pitched scoreless seventh and eighth innings.

The Maroon & Gold returns home and to MAAC play this weekend for a three-game series with Canisius on Friday and Saturday.   The Gaels and Griffs square off in a doubleheader on Good Friday beginning at noon.
