DURHAM, NC - The Iona College baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision to Navy in the middle game of the NCCU Round Robin at Durham Athletic Park this afternoon. Senior 2B Nick Rossetti's two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning led to the Gaels' (1-1) two tallies in the loss.

Navy scored four times in the second and third innings and three more times in the sixth to earn all the runs they would need. With one out in the eighth, rookie Chris Sand earned a pinch single to put a runner on. Rossetti then blasted his first home run of the season over the right centerfield fence on a 3-2 pitch.

Rossetti had two hits in the game. Sand, senior LF Andrew Passerelle, sophomore CF Dean Dignelli each recorded solo hits in the loss.

Junior LHP Brian Callahan took the loss. Junior Mike Brizzolara and sophomore Derrick Bligh tossed 1.1 scoreless innings while senior John Kassebaum allowed a single baserunner in his one inning of work.

The Gaels complete action in Durham tomorrow morning when they take on Delaware State.
