NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College men's basketball alums
Randy Dezouvre and
Mike Glover have signed professional contracts to continue their athletic careers in Europe. Dezouvre will spend the 2012-13 season in Denmark, while Glover will compete in Turkey. Both performers have already reported to their respective team's training camps.
Dezouvre has signed with BC Aarhus in Denmark's second largest city. Aarhus competes in Denmark's Ligaen, the country's top division. Aarhus finished ninth in the 10 team Ligaen in 2011-12. Dezouvre is the lone North American performer on the roster for the upcoming season. A recognizable opponent for Dezouvre will be former Albany standout Will Harris who will play for Horsens IC
Glover will play for Hacettepe University in Ankara of the Turkish Basketball League, the top division in the country. Hacettepe finished 12th in the 16 team league in 2011-12. Two other Americans appear on the team's roster for the upcoming season: former North Carolina State standout Cameron Bennerman and UNC Greensboro performer Courtney Elderidge.
Glover will be an opponent of recent Iona College Athletics Hall of Famer Steve Burtt. After playing professionally for the last couple seasons in Ukraine, Burtt's career takes him to Turkey for the first time. Burtt also performed for the Ukraine national team this summer.
Dezouvre and Glover join
Scott Machado in the professional ranks next season. Machado has been invited to preseason training camp with the Houston Rockets, the organization he performed successfully in the NBA Summer League in July.
