Marnie Skinner - Softball

Freshman Marnie Skinner showed her prowess in her first ever MAAC weekend.  The rookie went 2-0 in three appearances.  She struck out seven batters in 16 innings while walking just five in route to the Maroon & Gold closing out its first two doubleheaders with a unblemished record.

On Saturday, Apr. 1 against the Niagara University Purple Eagles, Skinner appeared in both games and went a combined 9 innings; she allowed nine hits, one earned run and struck out five.  She threw a combined 154 pitches and earned both wins on the day.  In game one against the Purple Eagles,

On Sunday against Canisius College, Skinner started for the second time in less than 18 hours and threw seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks.  She held the Golden Griffins at bay just enough to allow sophomore Kimberly Chiapparelli to bash the game-winning walk off two run homerun in the bottom of the eighth inning. 

The Gaels have a non-conference matchup against Sacred Heart on Wednesday. Apr. 5 before returning to MAAC play on the road against Siena and Marist.
