NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Head Coach Billi Godsey-Chambers announced the Iona College women's basketball 2017-18 non-conference schedule. The schedule features four straight games against local New York opponents and a pair of power five conference opponents to bookend the slate.

"Because we play in such a competative conference, it's vital for us to prepare for MAAC competition with an ambitious non-conference schedule.  We are excited for the early challenges on the road, and look forward to honing our skills with many local New York based games."  Coach Godsey-Chambers continues: "With a great blend of fresh faces and returning leadership, our non-conference slate will prepare us well both mentally and physically for the tough grind of the MAAC schedule."

The 2017-18 campaign kicks off Friday, Nov. 10 with a trip to Tuscon, AZ and a matchup against the University of Arizona . It will be followed by another road contest on Monday, Nov. 13 at Jacksonville. The Gaels faced Arizona twice, falling in McKale Center in 2010 and taking home a win at the Hynes Center in 2013. Iona and Jacksonville meet for the first time in history.

Iona's home opener is Sunday, Nov. 19 against Temple. The two teams square off for the first time since 2000. Temple holds a 5-0 series advantage.

On Tuesday, Nov. 21 Iona travels to the Steel City for a tip off vs. Duquesne. In mid-November last season, the Dukes survived a late Gaels' comeback to escape New Rochelle with a win.

Iona begins a three-game home stand vs. Toledo on Monday, Nov. 27 before hosting Bucknell and Hofstra Sunday, Dec. 3 and Thursday, Dec. 7.

The Gaels take to the road locally for two weeks in mid-December. It begins on Saturday, Dec. 9 with a short trip to the Bronx and Fordham University. Stony Brook hosts Iona on Thursday, Dec. 14 and St. Francis Brooklyn welcomes the Maroon & Gold to Peter Aquilone Court on Saturday, Dec. 16.

The 2017-18 non-conference schedule concludes Wednesday, Dec. 20 when the University of Kansas makes is way to New Rochelle, NY.  It will be the second meeting between the two programs with the last coming in November of 2014 at Allen Fieldhouse.

The women's basketball program will feature six new faces this season, including five incoming freshmen in Toyosi Abiola, Adrienne DiGioia, Jayden Eggleston, Olivia Owens, and Rebekah Justice.
