Iona WBB Announces 2026-27 Schedule

NEW ROCHELLE, NY— The Iona University women's basketball team announced its 2026-27 schedule on Monday morning. The Maroon & Gold's schedule features 12 non-conference contests and 20 Metro Conference regular season contests.

November

Iona opens the season at home with two straight home games at the Hynes Center, hosting Dominican College (Nov. 2) and Stony Brook (Nov. 5). The Gaels tip off the new season in New Rochelle for the second consecutive year, this time hosting the D-II Chargers. It is the ninth meeting all-time between the two programs and first since 1980. The Gaels then welcome the Seawolves to New Rochelle for the first time since 2023 and the 17th meeting all-time to close out the opening homestand.

The Gaels then embark on a two-game road swing against a pair of Big 12 opponents. First up is a matchup at Arizona (Nov. 8). Iona has one win over the Wildcats back on Nov. 8, 2013, and the two teams last met in Tucson in 2017. Iona closes out the road trip at TCU (Nov. 10) for the first meeting between the two schools since Jan. 5, 1994.

It's back to the Hynes Center for the next two matchups with a meeting with metropolitan rival Hofstra (Nov. 15). Iona holds an 11-10 edge in the all-time series over the Pride. The first rematch from a season ago is next as New Haven (Nov. 18) comes to New Rochelle for the first time since 1980. The Gaels took the meeting a season ago with a 57-45 win at the Hazell Center.

A trip to Pennsylvania follows for the Maroon & Gold with a showdown at Bucknell (Nov. 21) in the first meeting since 2022 between the two schools. The Bison hold a slight 6-5 edge over the Gaels in the all-time series.

The opening month closes with the second annual Iona Turkey Tip-Off (Nov. 27-28) at the Hynes Center. Iona welcomes Drexel, Southern Miss and UMBC to town over the holiday weekend. The tournament will feature two games on Friday and a third-place contest and championship game on Saturday.

December

The final month of the calendar year opens with two straight road games for the Maroon & Gold. First up is a trip to Staten Island for the second straight season with a showdown at Wagner (Dec. 2). Iona has won the last nine meetings, with five coming at the Spiro Center. Another return matchup from last season follows with a trip to Dartmouth (Dec. 5) for the first time since 2004. The Big Green earned a 65-57 victory over the Gaels in New Rochelle last season.

Iona welcomes former conference foes La Salle (Dec. 12) to the Hynes Center for the first time since 1992.

The Gaels begin the league slate on the road for the first time in six seasons on Saturday, Dec. 19 with a trip to Quinnipiac. Iona closes out the first conference weekend traveling to Marist (Dec. 21) for the first time in two seasons. The Gaels earned a thrilling 65-64 victory over the Red Foxes in the lone matchup between the two schools last season.

Iona will close out 2026 with a matchup against Merrimack (Dec. 29) after the holiday break. It is the only matchup between the two schools during the regular season as part of the league's unbalanced schedule.

JANUARY

For the third season in a row, Siena (Jan. 1) will be Iona's first opponent at the Hynes Center to kick off the New Year. The Gaels close out the first weekend of 2027 with a matchup at the three-time defending league champion Fairfield (Jan. 3).

The Gaels welcome the league's Western New York contingent to town, playing host to Niagara (Jan. 7) then Canisius (Jan. 9). Iona swept its season series against both programs a season ago. It will also be the lone matchup against the Golden Griffins during the regular season.

Iona then embarks on a two-game road swing with a midweek trip to Rider (Jan. 13). The Gaels hold a four-game winning streak over the Broncs and the contest is the only meeting between the two schools in the regular season. A trip to Sacred Heart (Jan. 16) for the first time in two seasons follows to cap the road swing.

A split weekend follows as Iona hosts Quinnipiac (Jan. 21) to close out the season series before traveling to Mount St. Mary's (Jan. 23) for the only matchup against the Mountaineers in the regular season.

The Gaels close out January with a pair of home games as Marist (Jan. 28) and Sacred Heart (Jan. 30) come to New Rochelle to conclude the regular season series. The matchup against the Pioneers is the final Saturday home game of the season for the Maroon & Gold.

FEBRUARY

Iona kicks off February with a road weekend that begins in Riverdale with a meeting at Manhattan (Feb. 4) before a trip upstate to Siena (Feb. 6).

The first of two split weekends follows as the Gaels host Saint Peter's (Feb. 11) before trekking up to Niagara (Feb. 13) to conclude the season series.

Iona will then return home for a matchup against Manhattan (Feb. 18). The second split weekend closes out the 2026-27 regular season has the Gaels hosting Fairfield (Feb. 25) in the home finale before ending the month on the road at Saint Peter's (Feb. 27).
