Conor Burke announced the team captains for the 2021-2022 season. Seniors
Jake Field,
Will Jennings and
Paul Sullivan have been voted tri-captains by the team.
Field is entering his fourth season with the Gaels, appearing and starting in 79 games with a career batting average of .236, to go along with 71 hits and 45 RBI's. In the Covid-shortened spring season the outfielder from Deptford, New Jersey, led Iona in hits with 17, was second in batting average at .327, and his 50 putouts in the field ranked second best on the team. Field will be graduating this May with a degree in criminal justice.
 Entering his fourth season with the Maroon & Gold, Jennings has appeared in 51 games with 36 games started posting a career batting average of .297 and a career slugging percentage of .355. At the plate in 138 at bats, Jennings has recorded 41 hits, 15 RBI's, 17 runs scored and last season the Mountainside, New Jersey native, led Iona in batting average at .372, which ranked fifth best in the MAAC. The outfielder was also second in team hits with 16 and led the team in OPS, .878. Jennings, a two time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, will be graduating this May with a degree in marketing.
Sullivan is coming into his fourth season with the Gaels, making 18 appearances on the mound including 4 starts, with a 3-4 record. The right handed pitcher has posted a career 5.40 ERA, with 27 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched. In an appearance against Manhattan last spring the Montvale, New Jersey native, threw two scoreless innings, allowing zero hits while adding two strikeouts. A two time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, Sullivan will be graduating this May with a degree in business.Â
