Clayton Jr. and Athias Named Ridgewood Saving Bank Student Athlete

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Walter Clayton Jr. of Iona Men's basketball and Ketsia Athias of Iona Women's basketball are named the Ridgewood Saving Bank Student Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 8- 15.   

Walter Clayton Jr.

In a win in Brooklyn Clayton Jr. posted 16 points, adding seven rebounds and four assists. He shot six of seven from the charity stripe, missing his first attempt of the season after hitting his first 20 attempts and snapping the longest Division I streak to start the season. Two days later in another win Clayton Jr. scored 14 of his 20 points in the final seven minutes of the contest. He finished the game shooting 7-of-14 from the field and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe while adding six rebounds and a team-best five assists.

Ketsia Athias

Athias pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and dished out five assists, leading all players. Her four blocked shots were a season and game high for the senior from Brooklyn. In the first game of the week, finished with a team-high 16 points for the Maroon & Gold and added three more steals. Athias and the Gaels open conference play tomorrow at home against the preseason favorite Quinnipiac.
