ELKHART, IND - The Iona College men's and women's swimming team returned to action for day two of the National Invitational Championship Meet in Elkhart, Indiana. The Iona men jumped up from 24th to 22nd place with 41-points.
Day 2 SUMMARY
The men's improvement came behind a thirteenth place effort in the 200-yard Freestyle from
Michael Faughnan. The sophomore swimmer from Kingston, NY posted a preliminary time of 1:37.95 and dropped to 1:37.61 in the evening final, just .05 off his MAAC Championship and school record time.
Later Faughnan led off the 800-yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:39.39 followed by
Conor Mullin (1:40.86);
Spencer Moran (1:42.46) and
Daniel Hadary (1:39.30) combining for a 6:42.11 clocking for eleventh place.
The Iona women's quartet finished in 38th place with
Grace Curry,
Megan Josephs,
Taylor Spillman and
Katherine Lee combining at 1:49.78. The Iona Men's team of
Brian Baldwin,
Matthew Loftus,
Liam Pyatt and Hadary took 21st at 1:33.02.
