ELKHART, IND - The second day of the 2023 National Championship Meet saw Iona Junior
Michael Faughnan continue his strong meet with a fourth place in the 200-yard Freestyle at 1:35.46. The 10-swimmer championship field was separated by 2.1 seconds with Queens University's Alex Kunert at 1:34.59 taking gold; Tennessee's Joaquin Vargas took silver at 1:35.09 and Queen's Daniel Meszaros claimed bronze at 1:35.19.
Day 2 SUMMARY
Faughnan was .18 off of his MAAC and school record time of 1:35.27. Faughnan was only .87 from gold.
In other action, Sophomore
Brian Baldwin went 51.18 in the 100-Butterfly for 83rd; Victoria Novinsky 79th in the 100-Backstroke at 57.37
The 800-Freestyle quarter of
Andrew Diano,
Matthew Woyksnar,
Chase Bateman and
Lucas Haddad took 31st at 7:00.67.
The Women's 200-yard Medley Relay team of Novinsky,
Julia Moser,
Ashley Benkert and
Megan Josephs clocked 1:44.15 for 40th place.
The team totals find the men in 34th position with 46 points. The Iona women stand ion 55th with 4 points.
