Ketsia Athias,
Juana Camilion and
Kate Mager of Iona University women's basketball all earned All-MAAC distinction, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning. Camilion's selection is the fifth of her career; Athias and Mager earn all-league honors for the first time as members of the Maroon & Gold.
KETSIA ATHIAS
Athias led Iona in rebounds per game (8.2) and assists per game (4.9) and was second on the team in scoring average (12.1), earning a spot on the All-MAAC Second Team. She finished the regular season at the top of the MAAC in rebounds per game and her assists per game were second most in the league. Athias was incredibly efficient scoring the ball this season, ranking sixth in the conference in field goal percentage (51.7%).
She got it done on both sides of the floor, leading the MAAC in blocked shots (46) as well. Athias played in and started all 29 games for Iona, registering double-digit points in 18 contests and posting seven double-doubles, including five in her final six regular season contests. She scored a season-high 22 points twice and posted new career highs in rebounds (17 vs. Niagara) and assists (9 vs. Rider and at Canisius).
JUANA CAMILION
Camilion is the first and only Gael to earn five all-conference honors. For the first time in her career, she was selected to the All-MAAC First Team. Camilion led Iona in scoring (14.1), ranking sixth in the MAAC. She was also third in assist/turnover ratio (1.30) fifth in free throw percentage (80.3%), sixth in the MAAC in assists per game (3.7), eighth in field goal percentage (46.7%), eighth in three-point field goal percentage (36.3%), ninth in steals (54), 10th in blocked shots (22) and 16th in rebounds per game (5.4).
Camilion played in and started all 29 games for the Maroon & Gold, scoring double-digit points in 24 of those contests and leading the team in scoring in 15 games. She posted a pair of double-doubles and scored a season-high 22 points in Iona's win over Siena in which the Gaels shot 75.5% from the floor as a team.
Kate MAGER
One of the most prolific shooters in all of college basketball, Mager was voted to the All-MAAC Second Team. A major difference maker for the Maroon & Gold, she finished the season second in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (49.7%), fifth in three-point field goals per game (3.17) and seventh in three-point field goals made (92). Mager set a single-season program record for three-point field goal percentage; her 92 trifectas currently rank second most in a single season and her field goal percentage (52.0%) is currently the fifth highest in Iona history.
Mager's 24 points scored against Niagara was the best scoring output by a Gael this season and she has amassed at least 10 points in 19 contests this season. She connected on four or more three-pointers in 14 games this season.
