Iona A&T Earns Inversion Pyramid At-Large Qualifier To NCATA National Championships

NEW ROCHELLE, NY— The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) today announced its 2024 National Championship field following the completion of the 2024 regular season and conference championship slate over the weekend. The Iona University Acrobatics & Tumbling team was selected as an at-large qualifier in the Inversion Pyramid.

This year's championship will be hosted by Fairmount State University and will be held April 25-28 at Joe Retton Arena on the Fairmount State campus.

"I am very pleased with our program, we had several events that were right on the cusp, and being a first-year team to qualify in any capacity is an honor" said head coach Jacquie Eshleman. "This team has had an incredible season, showing growth and consistency at every meet. I have no doubt the group of young women in our inversion pyramid event will give a great showing in Fairmont, West Virginia."

Iona is the lone first-year program to qualify for this year's championship and the first first-year program to compete since Converse back in 2018. The team earned the at-large qualifying score in pyramid heat one, the Inversion Pyramid with a season average score of 9.700 after a seven-meet inaugural season. The pyramid event in total has been the team's strongest event in its first campaign with a season average of 29.021 across the three event heats. Junior Paige Delman performs the bridge structure at the base of the Iona inverse pyramid formation. First year duo Alia Ellis and Annabella Cicci hold strong at the mid-level and top of the pyramid formation for the Gaels.

The NCATA national individual finals will take place on Sunday, April 28 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Live streaming for all sessions of the 2024 NCATA National Championships can be watched exclusively on ESPN+.
