No. 8 Iona Acro & Tumbling Ready for 2025 Season

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona University women's acrobatics & tumbling team is set to launch its highly anticipated 2025 season, entering just its second year of competition with a national ranking of No. 8 in the NCATA Preseason Poll. The Gaels have quickly established themselves among the nation's elite, facing a challenging schedule packed with ranked opponents.

THE SCHEDULE

The Maroon & Gold begin the season on the road tonight at No. 14 LIU (6 p.m.) before returning to the Hynes Center for matchups against No. 2 Quinnipiac (Feb. 16) and No. 15 Duquesne (Mar. 3). A trip to Texas follows, where Iona will take on No. 5 Mary Hardin-Baylor (Mar. 19) and defending national champion No. 1 Baylor (Mar. 22). The Gaels will close out the regular season with a historic first-ever Senior Day at home against No. 4 Oregon on Friday, March 28.

COACH ESHLEMAN'S TAKE

"We are excited to showcase our strengths this year," said head coach Jacquie Eshleman. "With an incredibly young roster, I couldn't be prouder of the strides we've made physically and mentally. This team is ready to prove that being a second-year program is not a limitation—it's an advantage."

ATHLETES TO WATCH

Leading the way for Iona is senior Alyssa Lentz, a key contributor in the Acro and Pyramid rounds, known for her versatility and elite tumbling skills. The Gaels also welcome NCATA 2024 All-American transfer Ty Upton, whose dynamic presence in the Acro and Toss rounds, combined with her high-level tumbling, makes her a major asset. Sophomores Gia Arias, Teresa Jennings, and Olivia Montalbano, along with standout freshman Mylah Vanden Elsen, are also expected to make a significant impact this season.
