The first day of competition at the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships got under way Wednesday night at the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio and the results were fast swimming and diving for the Iona Men and Women.
Â
However, electronic timing operational issues put the day's final race results and point totals on hold, as meet management officials sorted through back-up times to determine official final placings, particularly in the evenings last event the 800-yard Freestyle relay.
Â
The three event official results saw the Iona Women's 200-yard Medley Relay quartet of
Raegan O'Brien (26.48),
Julia Moser (28.32),
Ashley Benkert (25.03) and
Megan Josephs (23.61) post a season best by over a second, taking sixth at 1:43.44. The men's 200-Medley Relay dominated from start to finish with Michael Faughan (21.72),
Matthew Loftus (24.36);
Kieran Egan (20.88) and Nick Patino (19.64) combining for a new MAAC and Iona standard of 1:26.60. The women's 800-yard Freestyle Relay placed eighth with a season best time of 7:39.23 with
Megan Josephs (1:54.08);
Raegan O'Brien (1:54.450);
Mary Grace Waring (1:55.66) and
Kate Kennedy (1:55.04).
Â
On the 1-Meter Springboard, Junior

Â
The results and scores of the first day are on hold as officials review the back-up results of the men's 800-Free Relay where the Iona quartet of Egan,
Nate Wales,
Harry Platt and Faughnan competed.
Â
The meet resumes Thursday at 9:00am with the 500-Free, 200-IM, 50-Free, Women's 3-MeterDiving and 200-Free Relay.
