LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -Â The Iona women's track & field team completed action at the 2025 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday. The Maroon & Gold completed the day with 42 points and finished seventh out of 12 competing teams.
Gael standouts included
Tayla Gunton with a silver finish in the five-kilometer event, and a school record set by
Ava McAuliffe in the 400-meter event.Â
woMEN'S 5000-meter RUN
The Maroon & Gold brought in their biggest points haul of any event in the 5000-meter run, with
Tayla Gunton finishing second with a time of 17:20.59.
Madison Klein followed in fourth with a time of 17:29.41 while
Kate Tugman took home seventh-place points with a time of 17:52.73.
McKenna Arguien rounded out the list of Gael finishers, coming in 10th with a time of 18:06.76. Â
woMEN'S 1500-METER RUN
Tayla Gunton took part in the 1500-meter event finals as a result fo her strong qualifying time on Saturday and finished fourth with a time of 4:43.58. The Iona runner's performance brought in five points for the Gaels.Â
woMEN'S 400-meter run
Ava McAuliffe added another three points to the Maroon & Gold total with a sixth palce finish in the 400-meter final. McAuliffe's time of 57.66 stands as a personal record and the fastest outdoor 400-meter effort in school history. Â
women's Discus Throw
Tyaja Thomas handed Iona its only points scored from field events on Sunday, earning a mark of 36.31 meters in the discus throw and finishing in eighth place.Â
