Abby Conklin Joins Iona WBB Staff

NEW ROCHELLE, NY— Iona University women's basketball head coach Angelika Szumilo announced the addition of Abby Conklin to the 2025-26 coaching staff. Conklin joins the Gaels as the video coordinator after finishing a standout playing career at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

"I am very excited to have Abby Conklin join our women's basketball program as our new video coordinator!" said Szumilo. "I had the privilege of coaching Abby for three years. Her work ethic, high basketball IQ, and passion for the game always stood out. I'm proud to help her take this next step as she begins her coaching journey."

The Irvington, NY native returns to Westchester after concluding her collegiate playing career for the Knights including three seasons playing for coach Szumilo. She scored 691 points with a 174 made three-point field goals to pair with 300 rebounds and 211 assists in her career. Her 126 career games played is a FDU program record. Conklin started 33 games in 2024-25 helping guide the

FDU to a program record 29 wins and its second ever Northeast Conference Championship, the first since 1991-92.
She garnered NEC Most Improved Player honors in 2023-24, sliding into a starting role for the Knights that finished third in the NEC. Conklin averaged a career-high 9.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game; an uptick from her 3.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in 2022-23 NEC regular season champions. She appeared in 15 games for FDU as the team captured the 2021-22 NEC regular season crown

A 1,000-point scorer at Section One Class B powerhouse Irvington, Conklin played for hall of fame head coach Gina Maher. The Bulldogs captured three sectional titles along with one State and Federation championships in her tenure. She was a three-time All-Section and three-time All-State honoree.

Conklin is a two-time graduate of FDU, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management in 2024 and a Master of Sport Management degree this past May.
