Four Gaels Named 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

NORMAN, OK. – Iona University proudly announces that four members of its men's golf program Sahir Balyan, Sean Richards, Connor Henderson, and Parker Smith have been named 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I, as recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

The quartet played a pivotal role in leading the Maroon & Gold to a third-place finish at the 2024 MAAC Championship in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. For Henderson and Smith, this marks the second consecutive year earning this national academic and athletic distinction.

To be eligible for the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar award, student-athletes must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors academically and athletically, participate in at least 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, hold a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20. Nominees must also be of high moral character and in good standing with their institution.

In total, 556 NCAA Division I golfers from 190 schools earned the honor for the 2024-25 academic year. Schools with the most honorees included College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, Hawai'i, and Mississippi State each with six recipients tied with Rhodes College (Division III) and Texas Wesleyan (NAIA) for the most across all six divisions.
