CZECH REPUBLIC— Iona University Women's basketball graduate
Judith Gomez '24, '25 MBA is set to embark on her professional basketball career, recently signing with Basket Ostrava of the Czech Women's Basketball League (Chance ŽBL) for the 2025-26 campaign.
Gomez recently concluded her four-year career with the Gaels. Her 121 career games played ranks 10
th all-time in program history and her 779 career points is 37
th all-time among members of the Maroon & Gold. She started 32 games as a sophomore helping lead the Gaels to the program's second ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship in 2023. Gomez started every game the following two seasons.
She capped her career in 2024-25, with a career-high 9.5 points per game to lead the team and ranked fourth in the MAAC with a 39.3% three-point percentage. Her 18 double-digit scoring performances also led the team. Gomez scored a career-high 20 points in a win over Siena (January 4). She also totaled a career-high 16 rebounds to go with 16 points in a win over Mount St. Mary's (February 6).
Basket Ostrava enters its first season in the 10-team Chance ŽBL, the highest Czech competition in 2025-26 after competing recently in the 2
nd league. The team is based in the north-east of the Czech Republic and is the third largest populated city in the country. The 2025-26 Chance ŽBL season begins on September 27.
