NEW ROCHELLE, NY— The Iona University women's basketball team announced its 2025-26 schedule on Monday morning. The Gaels' season slate features 10 non-conference contests and a 20-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule.
Iona will host five non-conference games at the Hynes Athletic Center, highlighted by a four-team Turkey Tip-off tournament against Saint Francis, UIC and Maine (November 28-29). The Gaels open MAAC slate at home against Sacred Heart on Friday, December 19.

NOVEMBER
Iona tips off the new season at the Hynes Athletic Center against local D-II foe Mercy University (November 3). The season opener will be the 15
th meeting all-time between the two Westchester schools and the first since 1981.
The Gaels then hit the road for the next four games. First up is a trip to up I-95 to Connecticut for a matchup against Division I newcomer New Haven (Novemver 9). It is the second ever meeting between the two schools who last met on December 6, 1980. The Chargers earned a 54-53 win in New Rochelle.
A return matchup from a season ago follows with a trip to South Carolina to take on the College of Charleston (November 14). Iona's only ever appearance in Charleston was a 58-54 victory over the Cougars back on November 28, 1998. The Gaels wrap up the weekend down south with its first-ever matchup at Davidson (November 16).
The road swing continues with a meeting with metropolitan foe, Wagner (November 24) for the fourth consecutive season. It will be the 20
th meeting all-time between the Gaels and Seahawks. The Maroon & Gold have won the last eight meetings.
Iona returns to the Hynes Athletic Center for the 2025 Turkey Tip-Off (November 28-29). It is the first time since the 2010 season the Gaels will hold a tournament on the holiday weekend. The Gaels will take on the Saint Francis (November 28) in the opening contest before squaring off against either UIC or Maine in the consolation or championship game on Saturday. The opener will be the first time the Gaels take on the Red Flash since 2010. It will be the first-ever meeting between Iona and the Flames / Black Bears in the weekend finale.
DECEMBER
The final month of the 2025 calendar year starts in New Rochelle as the Gaels host UMass Lowell (December 3) for a return game from a season ago. Another return game Iona then travels to Navy (December 7) to conclude the home-and-home series. Non-conference play concludes at the Hynes Athletic Center with a contest against Dartmouth (December 14) for the first time since 2004.
The MAAC schedule begins at home for the sixth consecutive season for the Maroon & Gold on Friday, December 19 against Sacred Heart. Both teams split the season series last year with Iona earning a 58-44 win in New Rochelle to start the 2024-25 conference schedule.
A trip to Mount St. Mary's (Sunday, December 21) for the first time in two seasons follows to conclude the first league weekend. The Gaels earned a 62-60 win a season ago in the lone meeting between the two squads. To close out the 2025 calendar year, Iona plays host to Rider (December 29). The Gaels swept the regular season series against the Broncs last year.
JANUARY
Iona rings in the New Year with a matchup at Quinnipiac (January 1). Siena (January 3) will once again be the first home opponent in the New Year; the Gaels earned an 82-75 win at the Hynes Athletic Center to start the last calendar year. The Gaels then make the trip to Western New York to take on Niagara (January 8) and Canisius (January 10).
After the road weekend, the Gaels have another another stretch at home as they welcome Merrimack (January 14) to the Hynes Athletic Center for the first time. The Gaels will then get their first bye date on January 17 before hosting Saint Peter's (January 19) on Martin Luther King Day.
Iona will then be set for a split weekend, traveling to Rider (January 22) before hosting Marist (January 24). The month of January concludes with a road weekend at Merrimack (January 29) and then at Manhattan (January 31).
FEBRUARY
Iona begins the final month of the regular season with a split weekend against Mount St. Mary's and at the two-time defending champions, Fairfield (February 7). The Gaels then host Canisius (February 12) and Niagara (February 14) for a weekend.
A road weekend follows with matchups at Siena (February 19) and at Saint Peter's (February 21). One final home game against Manhattan (February 26) closes out the regular season as the Gaels end the year with the second and final bye date on February 28.
MARCH
The 10-team 2026 MAAC Women's Basketball Championship slides up a week and will take place March 5-9 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
