BOSTON, MA – Iona University men's indoor track & field delivered a pair of historic performances Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, highlighted by a sub-four-minute mile and the second-fastest 3,000-meter time in program history at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
Junior
Aiden Coles etched his name into the record book in the mile, while junior
Duncan Robinson turned in one of the fastest 3,000-meter performances ever by a Gael as the Maroon & Gold continued its strong indoor campaign.
MILE RUN
Junior
Aiden Coles placed 25th overall in a time of 3:58.77. Coles became the 10th runner in program history to break the four-minute barrier in the mile. His mark was a personal best by nearly four seconds and ranks as the seventh-fastest time on Iona's all-time performance list. Senior
Matt Rankin finished 52nd, crossing the line in 4:04.49.
3,000-METER RUN
Junior
Duncan Robinson led the way with a third-place finish in 7:48.13. Robinson's effort stands as the second-fastest 3,000-meter time in school history and marks the 20th sub-eight-minute performance in program history. Junior
Baptiste Cartieaux placed 59th in 8:05.85. Junior
Tristan Coles finished 104th with a time of 8:15.35. Freshman
Reiss Marshall recorded a time of 8:24.21 to place 154th overall.
UP NEXT
The Iona men return to action next weekend at the 2026 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Armory Track & Field Center on Saturday and Sunday. The women's track team competes in Boston tomorrow.
