Iona Men's Golf Competes at the Surf Club Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Iona University men's golf team completed competition at the Surf Club Invitational, a 54-hole event hosted at the Surf Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Gaels battled through three rounds against a competitive field on the challenging coastal course.

The Gaels finished 13th in the 18-team field, highlighted by several solid individual performances across the three rounds. Sean Richards was the best golfer for the Gaels in the first two rounds, posting back-to-back 1-under 70's.

The Surf Golf & Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, played as a par 71 at 6,604 yards for the Surf Club Invitational. Originally designed by renowned architect George Cobb, the coastal layout features tight, tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and undulating Bermuda greens that demand precision on approach shots. Located just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, the course provides a classic Myrtle Beach golf experience while presenting a balanced challenge for collegiate competition.
