RALEIGH, NC - The Iona University men's outdoor track team opened competition Thursday at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University, at Paul Derr Track & Field Facility. On the first day of the meet, the Gaels posted a pair of personal-best performances and saw two newcomers make their outdoor debuts.
1500-METER RUN
Junior
Aiden Coles led the Maroon & Gold in the 1500-meter run, placing ninth overall in 3:41.38. Coles finished second in his heat and lowered his previous personal-best mark by just over a half second after entering the meet with a 3:41.91 from the 2024 Yale Twilight.
Freshman
Reiss Marshall made his outdoor debut for Iona and finished 97th in 3:49.01.
3000-METER STEEPLECHASE
Freshman
Baptiste Cartieaux impressed in his first outdoor race for the Gaels, placing 11th in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:44.71.
5,000-METER RUN
Sophomore
Ollie Boltz delivered one of Iona's top performances of the day in the 5,000-meter run, placing 32nd overall in 14:03.83. Boltz won his heat and trimmed nearly eight seconds off his previous personal best of 14:11.41, set at the 2025 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Junior
Tristan Coles also competed in the event, finishing 120th in 14:31.34.
10,000-METER RUN
Junior
Scott Fagan represented the Gaels in the 10,000-meter run and placed 94th in 32:11.39.
