AZUSA, CA / WINSTON SALEM, NC – The Iona University men's outdoor track and field team competed across the country on Friday, April 17 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, CA at Cougar Athletic Stadium and the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, NC at Kentner Stadium, turning in a series of standout distance performances.
1500-METER RUN
Junior
Aiden Coles turned in a historic performance in the 1500-meter run at Wake Forest, finishing third in 3:45.05 in the fifth heat of the invitational race. His time set a new school record, surpassing Damien Dilcher's 3:38.85 from the 2024 NCAA Preliminaries. Coles improved significantly from his previous personal best of 3:41.38 at the Raleigh Relays three weeks ago and now ranks 11th in the East Region and 12th nationally this season.
Junior
Tristan Coles also impressed in the 1500-meter run, placing eighth in 3:38.71 in the third heat of the invitational race. His performance came within two seconds of his personal best set last season at Princeton and stands as the second-fastest time in the MAAC this year, trailing only Aiden's mark and sitting more than three seconds ahead of the next closest competitor in the conference.
10,000-METER RUN
Sophomore
Ollie Boltz delivered a breakthrough performance in the 10,000-meter run, placing 17th in 29:02.42. Competing late Thursday night on the West Coast, Boltz' time converted to early Friday morning on the East Coast and marked the MAAC's first sub-30-minute effort in 2026. He finished just one second off his personal best set last season at Princeton and now owns the fastest time in the MAAC this year, ranking among the top 75 times in the East Region.
5,000-METER RUN
Freshman
Reiss Marshall made his Iona debut in the 5,000-meter run, placing 86th in 14:27.06 in the fourth heat of the event. Racing late Friday evening in California, Marshall's mark stands as the second-fastest in the MAAC this season, trailing only Boltz.
