PRINCETON, NJ - The Iona University men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at Weaver Track & Field Stadium in Princeton, NJ, turning in a series of personal and season-best performances against a strong field.
1500-METER RUN
Freshman
Reiss Marshall placed fourth in the Friday night section with a personal-best time of 3:46.09, shaving three seconds off his previous mark set at NC State in March.
In the Mike Brady race, junior
Tristan Coles finished 12th in 3:44.04, a season-best performance just shy of his personal record set at Princeton last year.
Saturday night saw freshman
Igor Ouwerkerk claim the event title in his season debut, crossing first in 3:50.59. Junior
Christian Audrin delivered a personal-best 3:59.03 to place 26th, breaking the four-minute barrier for the first time and improving by 3.5 seconds from his Marist performance two weeks prior. Freshman Benja Daniels made his season debut, finishing 33rd in 4:03.83.
5,000-METER RUN
Freshman
Sean Lawton posted a personal-best time of 14:34.55 to finish fifth overall, improving by 8.5 seconds from his previous effort on the same track last month.
4 X 400-METER RELAY
The quartet of
Joshua Aceto,
Jack Bretthauer,
Dylan Donegan, and
Jaylen Mozone combined for a fifth-place finish in 3:14.74. The mark stands as a season best for Iona, 15 seconds faster than its METS performance last month, and ranks third in the MAAC this season—just three-quarters of a second off the top time.
200-METER DASH
Junior
Cameron Washington placed 12th in 21.85, finishing just 0.17 seconds shy of his personal best set at UConn last year.
100-METER DASH
Junior
Derrick Touba finished 28th in 11.04, narrowly missing his personal best by 0.15 seconds from the Marist meet two weeks ago. Donegan followed in 29th place in 11.07, 0.22 seconds off his personal best from the METS last month.
