EMMITSBURG, MD – The Iona University men's outdoor track and field team opened competition at the 2026 MAAC Championships Saturday at Morgan Track with two medals in the 10,000-meter run and seven qualifiers advancing to Sunday's event finals.
Junior
Scott Fagan captured the gold medal in the 10,000-meter run in 31:17.98 for his second career MAAC title in the event after winning in 2024. Freshman
Sean Lawton earned silver in 31:23.72 for his first career MAAC medal.
10,000-METER RUN - FAGAN
10,000-METER RUN - LAWTON
Fagan led the Gaels with his championship performance, securing the second MAAC 10,000-meter gold medal of his career. Lawton followed closely behind to earn silver and the first conference medal of his collegiate career as Iona claimed the top two spots in the event.
1,500-METER RUN PRELIMS
Freshman
Reiss Marshall posted the top preliminary time in 3:58.76 to qualify for Sunday's final. Junior
Tristan Coles also advanced with a third-place finish in 4:00.02. Junior
Christian Audrin qualified after placing ninth in 4:01.67, while freshman
Igor Ouwerkerk advanced with a 12th-place finish in 4:02.72.

Ben Daniels finished 21st in 4:05.70, sophomore
Caudell Cajuste placed 36th in 4:11.76 and sophomore
Jack Novelli finished 44th in 4:22.40.
400-METER RUN PRELIMS
Freshman
Jaylen Mozone qualified for the final with the fastest preliminary time of 47.41.
Sophomore
Jack Bretthauer recorded a personal-best 49.75 to place 14th, improving his previous best by nearly one second. Freshman
Alex Hannon also posted a personal-best mark of 50.75 in 20th place, finishing within a half-second of his outdoor best and a tenth of his indoor best. Freshman
James Roche finished 31st in 52.44 and junior
Evan Gralitzer placed 32nd in 53.00.
800-METER RUN PRELIMS
Junior
Aiden Coles advanced to Sunday's final after placing second in the preliminaries with a time of 1:54.19.
200-METER DASH PRELIMS
Freshman
Joshua Aceto qualified for the final with a sixth-place finish in 21.86.
Sophomore
Dylan Donegan placed 22nd in 22.56, while junior
Derrick Touba finished 24th in a personal-best 22.57, improving by three-tenths of a second. Junior
Cameron Washington placed 28th in 23.12 and Gralitzer finished 32nd in 23.91.
100-METER DASH PRELIMS
Donegan led the Gaels in seventh place with a time of 11.05. Touba placed 13th in 11.13 and Washington finished 16th in 11.20. Freshman
Joe Surozenski placed 28th in 11.49.
110-METER HURDLES PRELIMS
Freshman
Wesner Archelus recorded a personal-best time of 15.44 to finish 10th, improving his previous best by two-tenths of a second.
400-METER HURDLES PRELIMS
Archelus posted another personal-best performance in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing 20th in 57.70. The freshman recorded his first sub-minute effort, moved into 10th place in program history and lowered his previous best by more than six seconds.
