EDISON, NJ— Ignacio Manzanares of the Iona University men's soccer team earned the first Metro Conference Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week honors of the season as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

The newcomer had a spectacular debut for the Maroon & Gold scoring a pair of goals in the season opening 4-1 victory over Monmouth on Friday afternoon. Manzanares tallied his first goal and the eventual game-winner in the 32nd minute before sealing the victory with his second goal in the 78th minute. The Cordoba, Argentina native's two goals are tied for the conference lead following the opening week of the 2026 season.
