EDISON, NJ— Newcomer Adriano Sofio of the Iona University men's soccer team was named the Metro Conference men's soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Sofio shared the league's top defensive weekly honor with Quinnipiac's Alexander Hansen.

The Buenos Aires, Argentina native had a stellar debut for the Maroon & Gold. Sofio racked up six saves in his first Maroon & Gold start in goal. The newcomer tallied three first half saves including a penalty kick stop before recording three more saves in the second stanza to earn his first collegiate shutout.
