Gaels drop shoot out on the road

Kingston, NY - The Iona College women's lacrosse team dropped a 22-11 shutout to Marist in MAAC Lacrosse League action at Dietz Stadium. Junior Jaclyn O'Leary had three goals and an assist while sophomore Christie Godlewski added a hat trick of her own in the loss.
Marist (5-3, 2-1 MAAC) took control early and never looked back, staking a 6-1 lead in the first 7:29 of the game. The Gaels (4-4, 0-2 MAAC) closed to within two goals on goals by freshman Emily Skarda and sophomore Lisa Baron with 15:48 to play in the first half. The Red Foxes scored six straight goals and 10 of the next 16 to take a commanding 16-8 advantage at the break.
Baron and Skarda added two goals and sophomore Marisa Audley accounted for the team's other tally in the loss. Freshman Carlee Street had eight saves.
Marist was led by Lindsey Diener's six points (4 g, 2 a) and a five-goal day by midfielder Liz Falco.
The Gaels return to action on Thursday afternoon vs. Manhattan at 3:00 pm. The game will be a Jasper home game that will be held at Eastchester High School in nearby Eastchester, NY. Consult Manhattan's official website for directions to the game.
