Jaclyn O'Leary led Iona with five points
New Rochelle, NY - Iona College women's lacrosse endured the wet conditions, but dropped a 12-8 contest to Siena. The Gaels(6-6, 1-4 MAAC) were led by Jaclyn O'Leary's four goals and one assist, and have now lost two straight.
Ryan Tierny led Siena (4-8, 3-2 MAAC) with five points, including two goals and three assists.
O'Leary was the first to score in the game, netting a pass from twin Rachel O'Leary in the second minute. The 1-0 lead was short lived, however, as Siena scored four consecutive over the next eight minutes.
Trailing 5-2, Christie Godlewski took a pass from Jillian Beck and fired a shot past Saints goalkeeper Heather Ely. Jaclyn O'Leary then added three more for Iona to pull ahead 6-5. Tierny and Christina Pampalone answered with two goals for Siena, and Kelly Hughes added one in the 28th minute for a 7-7 halftime score.
The Saints outscored Iona 5-1 in the second half en route to the 12-8 victory.
The Gaels have two league contests remaining and will travel for a two-game upstate New York trip, facing Niagara on April 20 and Canisius on April 22.
