Buffalo, NY - The Iona college women's lacrosse team dropped game two of its final 2007 roadtrip, falling to Canisius by a score of 18-15. Christie Godlewski led the Gaels (7-7, 2-5) with five goals and three assists.
The teams remained close throughout much of the first half, with the score tied at 5-5 on a goal by Rachel O'Leary in the 20th minute . Canisius then scored eight of the following ten goals to pull ahead with a 13-7 lead with 17:58 remaining in the contest.
The Maroon & Gold tightened the gap to 13-11 in the 50th minute on Godlewski's fifth goal of the day. Canisius scored four of the next five goals to put the game away.
Iona goalkeeper Carlee Street made nine saves in her 58 minutes in front of the net. Colleen Magri took over for the final 1:57.
The Gaels will play their final game of the season against Binghamton. The game takes place at 4:00 pm on April 25 at Mazzella Field.
