New Rochelle, NY - The Iona College women's lacrosse team defeated Binghamton University by a score of 18-12 to log a victory in its final contest of the 2007 season. The Gaels finish at 8-7 overall, with a 2-5 record in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. Jaclyn O'Leary scored six points on six goals in the win, while Marisa Audley added five points on two goals and three assists.
Binghamton's Leanne Musso led her squad with five goals.
The Bearcats claimed the lead early, scoring three initial goals on Iona keeper Carlee Street. That lead was shortlived, however, as Iona climed back with five straight goals. Marisa Audley launched to back-to-back, followed by a free position goal by Jaclyn O'Leary, and two straight by Rachel O'Leary.
Musso ended the streak, finding the back of the net in the 18th minute, but the Maroon & Gold would not relinquish their lead throughout the remainder.
Jaclyn O'Leary recorded her 50th and 51st goals of the season in the second half.
Street made seven saves for Iona in her 47 minutes of playing time, before Colleen Magri took over for the final thirteen minutes.
