Iona picks up first conference win

Eastchester, NY - The Iona College women's lacrosse team locked in its first conference win of the 2007 season, a 13-10 victory over Manhattan. Six different Gaels scored in the contest, led by sophomore Marisa Audley's four goals.
By the seventh minute, the Jaspers had jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals by Jenny Carman, Alicia Psillos, and Lauren Civardi. Jaclyn O'Leary was the first to break the ice for the Gaels, scoring in the fifteenth minute on an assist from Audley. Christie Godlewski, Jillian Beck, and Rachel O'Leary added three more in the half en route to a 4-4 tie at the half.
Both teams played virtually even lacrosse in the second period, each taking 18 shots, completing five clears, and making four saves in the net. The Maroon & Gold was able to capitalize on Manhattan's 14 second-half turnovers, outscoring the Jaspers 9-6 in the period to get the win.
Freshman goalkeeper Carlee Street played all 60 minutes and recorded six saves on the day.
The squad returns to New Rochelle to host Central Connecticut on April 10 at 3:00 pm.
