Loudonville, NY - Senior Jaclyn O'Leary had her second six-goal performance of the season as the Iona College women's lacrosse team won its second consecutive game, 13-6 at Siena. The Gaels (6-8, 2-2) never trailed after taking a 1-0 lead in the first half.
After a scoreless ten and a half minutes to start the contest, the Maroon & Gold broke through with three unassisted goals to take a 3-0 lead over the Saints. O'Leary was the first to drive one past Siena goalkeeper Liz Peters. The shot was followed up by one from Rachel O'Leary and another from Christie Godlewski over a span of 11 seconds.
The hosts answered back with two goals of their own to cut the Iona advantage to one with 14:33 on the clock. Nine seconds later Jillian Beck kicked off a 4-1 Gael run over the remainder of the period which brought the game to halftime with Iona leading 7-3.
Siena was the first to score in the second half as Lindsey Rosencrans netted a solo shot with under three minutes expired. Jaclyn O'Leary added another tally to Iona's total before the Saints scored a pair to bring the score to 8-6 in favor of the Gaels. Godlewski, O'Leary, and Elizabeth Coholan combined for five goals over the final 9:51 as Iona ran away with the victory.
Colleen Magri picked up win number six, making six saves in front of the goal. Peters stopped 11 for the Saints in the loss.
Iona will play its second of two road games on Sunday with a 1:00 pm tilt at Le Moyne before returning to Mazella Field for two contests to close out the regular season.
