The Gaels cut a 2-0 deficit in half with a run in the top of the third inning. A base hit to left field by Lorenzo drove in Walraven from second base for the squad's first run.
The Seahawks scored nine times from the third through the seventh inning to take a commanding lead.
Iona got three back in the top of the eighth inning with a two out rally. Freshman SS
Greg Zambrella plated two batters when his single to center field was booted by the Wagner outfielder. He advanced to third on the error and scored on freshman CF
Trevor Hybner's single to left center.
The Gaels scored their four runs on 10 hits. Walraven, Lorenzo and Passerelle were each 2-for-4. Rookie RHP
Sean Darsee took the loss, tossing five innings and allowing five earned runs.
The Maroon & Gold is back in action this weekend when they take on Fairfield in a MAAC contest at Salesian Field. The three-game series opens up a seven-game homestand for the Gaels.
