West Point, NY- The Iona College baseball team fell to Army 13-5 in non-conference action at Doubleday Field.

Andrew Wernicki drove in the game's first run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to give the Gaels (1-24) a 1-0 lead. Army (10-18) scored four times in the bottom of the fourth and took the lead for good.
Iona cut the deficit to a run in the next inning with two tallies of their own. Another sacrifice fly by senior CF
Paul Salerno pushed across the first run of the inning. Wernicki scored with two out when sophomore RF
Chris Leahy reached on an error by the Black Knight third baseman. The Black Knights responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Gaels rallied in the seventh, scoring two runs in the frame to make the score 7-4. Army answered with six unanswered runs in their half of the seventh and eighth innings to complete the scoring. Leahy's RBI ground out was followed by a run scoring single by senior DH
Allie Abbatiello.
Five Gaels recorded a single hit. Wernicki was 1-for-2 an RBI and two runs scored. Rookie RHP
Sean Darsee (0-1) took the loss. He started the contest, pitching the first 4.1 innings.
Iona is back in action tomorrow afternoon in a non-conference tilt at Fairleigh Dickinson.
