New Rochelle, NY - The Iona College women's lacrosse team used a late-game run to win it's first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match-up of the season with a 17-10 victory over local rival Manhattan. The Gaels (5-8, 1-2 MAAC) were in control for most of the afternoon, only giving up the lead once to the Jaspers (5-4, 0-3 MAAC).
Iona put forth a solid team effort, with four different players amassing four points in the contest. Jaclyn O'Leary, Elizabeth Coholan, and Kasey Hughes each had three goals and one assist while Kelly Hughes scored once and added three assists.
The Maroon & Gold held advantages in shots (34-25), ground balls (37-27), and draw controls (17-12). Junior netminder Colleen Magri made nine saves in goal and picked up her fifth win of the year.
