Easton, PA - The Iona College men's soccer team picked up its first win of the year with a 1-0 overtime victory over Temple in the 2008 Lafayette Soccer Classic.  The Gaels finished at 1-1 in the tournament to place third.

With neither team able to find the back of the net during regulation time, the match went into extra minutes.  Junior Giovanni Destasio scored the game winning goal for the Maroon & Gold, his first of the season, in the 104th minute.  Destasio and Iona defender Mario Aceto were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Gaels continue their four-game road swing with an appearance in the Long Island University Tournament.  The squad will take on CSU Bakersfield on Sep. 12 and Maine on Sep. 14.
