ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Iona College baseball team dropped two contests at Navy's Max Bishop Stadium.  The Gaels fell 8-1 to Central Connecticut State in the morning opener before a 15-3 defeat at the hands of the host Midshipmen in the nightcap.

Game 1:
Sophomore DH Kevin Mollema and senior C Andrew Wernicki had two hits a piece vs. the Blue Devils.  Wernicki was responsible for the Gaels lone run, a two-out bottom of the ninth solo home run over the left field fence.

Senior RHP Justin Karn allowed just one run in four innings of work but took the loss.

Game 2:
Navy scored 10 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to top the Gaels in the second game.   Iona got on the scoreboard first in the top of the fourth on a two-run double by junior 2B Nick Rossetti.  Rossetti doubled home rookie RF Colin Lyall and sophomore 1B Chris Griffin with one out in the inning.  Rossetti scored the team's third run on an error by the Midshipmen 3B off the bat of sophomore 3B Michael Sevilla.

Rossetti went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Gaels offensively.   Rookie RHP Chris Burke took the loss.

The Gaels are back in action next weekend at the Seton Hall Strikeout Cancer event.  The Gaels take on Northeastern University on Friday (Mar. 13) before battling with NJIT on Saturday (Mar. 14) and the host Pirates on Sunday (Mar. 15).
