RIVERDALE, NY - Manhattan scored four of the final six goals in a 14-12 defeat of the Iona College lacrosse team in MAAC action at Gaelic Park.  Senior Christie Godlewski set a career-high and fell one shy of the school record with six goals in the contest.

The Lady Jaspers tallied a goal with 10 seconds remaining in the first half to take a 7-4 advantage.  What would have been a key goal for the Gaels was waived off for the buzzer as the home team took the three-goal lead into the break.

The Gaels rallied from three goals down to tie the score at 10-10 with 13:18 remaining.  Godlewski scored twice and sophomore Elizabeth Coholan had a goal and assist as the Gaels scored three straight tallies.  Manhattan answered with three straight of their own over the next five minutes to take a 13-10 lead.    Sophomore Caitlyn Collins and Godlewski cut the margin to 13-12 with back-to-back goals at 5:17 and 4:39 but the Maroon & Gold could not find the equalizer.  The Lady Jaspers added an insurance goal with 2:41 to play.

In addition to Godlewski's six points, Coholan posted four with three goals and an assist.  Collins added two goals and assist and senior Jillian Beck had two helpers in the loss.

Senior GK Colleen Magri posted 18 saves.

The Gaels are back in action on the road this weekend when they take on Canisius (Friday) and Niagara (Sunday).
