Jillian Beck rounded out the Gael scorers with a goal in the second half. Defensively, freshman
Casey Scully led with four ground balls and one caused turnover while
Courtney Hocking and
Amber Zimmerlink each picked up three ground balls.
After tying the game at 1-1 on Collins' first goal of the day at the 28:13 mark, the Gaels fell behind as Canisius went on a 5-0 run and Iona was never able to make up the difference. Goalkeepers
Colleen Magri and
Carlee Street each played one half in front of the net. Magri picked up two saves and Street saved four.
The Gaels continue their two-game set with a contest at Niagara at 11:00 am on Sunday.
