NEW YORK, NY - Three members of the Iona College men's and women's indoor track squad competed tonight at the Gotham Cup at the 168th St Armory Track and Field Center.
Graduate
Leonie Smith finished fifth overall in the women's 3000-meter run, crossing the line in 10:08.77. She was the third collegiate finisher in the event, finishing six and a half seconds behind La Salle's Stephanie Bearish.
In the men's 3k, sophomores
Jared Welsh and
Colin Culhane finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh place in the second of four heats in the event. Welsh crossed in 8:57.95 while his teammate was less than a second behind in 8:58.38.
The Gaels are back in action next weekend at the Princeton Relays on Saturday (Jan. 23).
