NEW YORK, NY - The Iona University women's indoor track and field team competed at the 2026 MAAC on Sunday, February 22, at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York, NY. The Gaels totaled 59 points to finish sixth overall, while Quinnipiac captured the team championship with 173.5 points. Iona's athletes earned multiple podium finishes and personal milestones across individual and relay events.
3,000-METER RUN
Junior
Tayla Gunton captured her second gold medal of the championship with a winning time of 9:33.64, adding to her 5,000-meter victory on Saturday and bringing her career total to six MAAC medals, including three golds. Freshman
Alex Schulz finished in second place with a time of 9:40.45, earning her second medal of the championship after winning the mile earlier on Sunday. Junior
McKenna Arguien placed 15th in 10:20.17, and junior
Alexa Doe finished 34th in 11:17.71.
MILE RUN

Alex Schulz secured her first career MAAC medal in the mile, winning gold with a time of 4:57.03 and setting a strong early tone for Iona on Sunday.
800-METER RUN

Arabella Dickfos earned silver in 2:18.961, while freshman
Sofia Lumbreras took bronze with a time of 2:18.968. These performances marked the first MAAC medals for both Dickfos and Lumbreras, with Lumbreras coming off a standout cross country season as an All-MAAC and All-Rookie honoree.
