NEW YORK, NY- Graduate Leonie Smith was the Iona College women's indoor track team's lone representative at the 2010 New Balance Collegiate Invitational. Smith finished seventh overall in the championship mile.

Smith's time of 4:50.86 was a personal best and the best in her heat. It was seventh overall in the event and she qualified for the ECAC Championship in Boston on Mar. 6-7.   The 4:50.86 is also a new Iona record, topping former Iona stand out McKayla Plank's 4:53.12 at the 2006 Valentine Invite in Boston, MA

Iona is back in action next weekend at the St. Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 12-13).
