LOUDONVILLE, NY - The Iona College lacrosse team dropped a 15-6 decision to Siena in MAAC action on the road, evening its record in conference play to 1-1 (4-8 overall). Junior A Caitlyn Collins led the Gaels with a hat trick in the defeat.
Iona leveled the count after falling behind 1-0, tying the score on Casey Scully's 21st goal of the year in the tenth minute. The Maroon & Gold then gave up four straight as the Saints took hold of a 5-1 lead with 6:46 left in the first half. Iona would score once more in the opening period on a Kylie Gregory goal, assisted by Collins.
Collins netted her second of three goals on the day just 30 seconds into the second half, this time off a feed from Scully. The two squads traded goals over much of the stanza until Siena notched six of the seven goals recorded in the final six minutes to seal the win.
The Gaels continue MAAC action with their final road contest of the season, playing at Fairfield at 3:30 pm on April 16.
