BOSTON, MA - The Iona College lacrosse team ended a two-game winning streak with a 19-5 loss to Boston College in the final non-conference match up of the season. Sophomore midfielder Amber Zimmerlink led the Gaels (4-7) with two goals.
Trailing 2-0 five minutes into the contest, Iona cut the defecit to one on a goal by Zimmerlink in the tenth minute off an assist from Brittney Mabus. The Eagles then went on a tear, mounting a twelve-goal run which extended into the second half to lead 14-1.
The Gaels stopped the streak as Courtney Hocking netted a free position shot in the 37th minute. Elizabeth Coholan, Zimmerlink, and Kasey Hughes also added tallies for the Maroon & Gold in the period. Goalkeeper Carlee Street finished with four saves while Sheila Serafino saved three for Boston College to earn the win.
Iona resumes MAAC play on April 11 when the squad travels to face Siena at 1:00 pm.
