NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College lacrosse team (2-7) played its second game in three days, falling to UC Davis (8-1) by a score of 9-7 in non-conference action at Mazzella Field.  The Gaels begin their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule on Sunday, but still have one non-league game remaining in early April.

Casey Scully led the Maroon & Gold with three points on one goal and two assists and added three caused turnovers and three ground balls.  Kylie Gregory picked up a pair of goals and recorded two of Iona's season-low four draw controls.  Kelsey Sickles paced the group with four ground balls and matched Scully's three caused turnovers.

The Aggies' Elizabeth Datino led all players with three goals while Christina Corsa, Hannah Mirza, and Gina Hoffmire scored twice each.  The visitors held a 26-13 shot advantage and led 12-4 in draw controls.

After falling behind 1-0, Iona pulled even on a sixth-minute free position goal by Scully.  UC Davis responded with four straight tallies to pull out to a 5-1 lead and remained ahead through the rest of the contest.  The Gaels trailed 8-2 midway through the second half when they put together a 3-0 run to cut the spread to 8-5.  Gregory notched her 13th and 14th goals of the year with Brenna Lade following to increase her season total to ten.

Iona will host nearby Manhattan in the 2011 MAAC opener on Mar. 27.  The game is slated for 11:00 am.
