SOUTH KENT, CT - The Iona College golf team secured a 16th place finish Tuesday after the third and final round of the Hartford Hawks Invitational, held at Bull's Ridge Bridge Country Club. The Gaels as a squad carded a score of 319 in round three, and finished with a score of 958. Rutgers was the team champion with a two day score of 868.
Junior Taylor Bellemare shot a seven-over 79 in the third round, finishing tied for 56th with a three round score of 236 (+20). Junior Tom McHugh also carded a seven-over 79 on Tuesday, finishing tied for 66th with a score of 238 (+22). Junior Evan DeLuca finished tied for 73rd after shooting an eight-over 80 in the third round, finishing with a toal score of 242 (+26). Freshman Stefan Cygan tied for 84th with a total of 246 (+30), shooting a final round nine-over 81. Freshman Brian Fitzpatrick shot a final round 12-over 82, and finished tied for 87th with a score of 248 (+32).
Iona is idle until Oct. 14, when the squad tees off at the Connecticut Cup at the Ellington Ridge Country Club.
