LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL - The Iona College golf team began play at the 2014 MAAC Golf Championships Friday morning at Disney's Palm Golf Course. After one round of action, the Gaels sits seventh as a team after a day one score of 320 (+32). Manhattan College is in first after the first round after posting a team score of 310 (+10).

Junior Tom McHugh was the Gaels' top performer in the first round, and currently sits tied with four others for fifth after a first round 77 (+5). Junior Evan DeLuca was one of three players to card an eight-over 80 on the day and currently sits tied for 17th.

Junior Taylor Bellemare is tied for 20th after shooting a nine-over 81 in round one. Freshmen Stefan Cygan and Brian Fitzpatrick are tied with six others for 25th after both finished the first 18 holes with a score of 82 (+10).

The Gaels resume action Saturday, with round two beginning at 7:30 am.
